Lavi noticed Allen didn’t mention if his toes were ok. With a sigh,
he sat down on the couch next to him. “Here – let me see your feet.”
Lavi pushed Allen back onto the couch against the overstuffed cushions
and pulled the blankets over him. With Allen now sprawled out, he
grabbed his feet and set them in his lap. With careful prodding,
Lavi checked each foot. Allen’s feet were still ice cold, so Lavi warmed
them with his hands. “Can you feel this?” he asked, gently massaging
each toe to check that they were working properly. Other than Allen’s
toes looking a tad pink, they looked healthy – which was a good sign.
Allen leaned back, holding his cup out of the way as Lavi covered him in blankets. He wanted to protest as the other put his feet in his lap, he knew he was filthy… but the feeling of warmth, almost burning against his icy skin, made him relax.
He answered Lavi’s question with a nod before taking another sip from his cup. Now that he was leaning back, he felt even more sleepy. He felt so comfortable… it had only been a few weeks, but it felt like it had been so long since he had things like clean, dry clothes, a soft place to sleep, warm food and drinks, blankets… and the feeling of being somewhere safe, where he could sleep without worry of attack or theft. While the logical part of his mind reminded him he knew nothing about this strangers motives for taking him in, he couldn’t deny that he felt safe right now.
“Can I sleep now…?”
