tbh the only soulmate au i could ever write would be one where everyone has soulmarks on their left forearm and fai and kurogane’s soulmarks are completely incompatible and fai angsts about it a lot and then eventually kurogane has to cut off his arm to save fai’s life and fai is all “BUT HOW WILL YOU FIND YOUR SOULMATE NOW” and kurogane is just like “look when i find someone i want to cut the other three limbs off for i’ll let you know, until then i think you’ll do”
