How Neah and his interaction with the Earl in 219 disturbs me?

harleylikeaperson:

Anyone else realize that the Earl and Nea like are in each others arms THE WHOLE CHAPTER. Like, I can’t get over it. I don’t know how to take this large amount of intimacy. I mean, is it because I’ve spent so long with the idea that Neah and Earl are sworn enemies who have tried/will try to kill each other? Is it because they’re wearing the faces/bodies of Allen and the Earl who ARE (as of the past chapters, so not including the revelation of Mana) definite enemies? Is it because this is the most/ longest amount of physical closeness/intimacy I’ve seen in D.Gray-man from any character? Is it because I’m not used to feeling some sympathy towards the Earl? Is it because I’m not sure how to feel about Neah; as his motives and true personality hadn’t yet been revealed, but from the way he’s been acting it seriously kinda giving me chills? Is it because I’m not used to Allen having such a manipulative, strangely empty smile on his face; or seeing him acting slightly seductive in an also very manipulative way??

Like, the whole thing; I’m slightly uncomfortable about this fact. And I think all these questions kinda factor into why. Like, the biggest thing is Neah. At first it was really heartwarming (kinda) how they reunited. But, like, then you remember all this stuff; and realize that no, this is actually really disturbing. Neah’s extreme closeness, the somewhat empty smile, his manipulative seductiveness– showing on a face that isn’t his, using a body that’s not his in a way that Allen would probably be disgusted with- towards someone who’s obviously not entirely mentally stable– like it’s disturbing. Neah, really disturbs.

Or maybe I’m just projecting, and no one else sees Neah in the creeper lighting that I do

I see it as rather manipulative too… Neah had said during the Alma arc that he was going to kill the Earl… and he makes some creepy faces at one point as if he is going to hurt Mana when he is hugging him… I think that was the original intention of that hug. But it is his brother, so he gets a bit carried away with the hug himself.

The questions that came out of today’s chapter:

spirithana:

If Mana is the Earl then who raised Allen? Who is Mana Walker that turned into an akuma?

Who is Allen and why is Neah in his body?????

How did the Original Earl (Adam?) become two babies??

Why did he become two babies??????????

Where is Lavi??????????????????????????????????????????

I think the ‘Mana’ who turned into the akuma was actually ‘Neah’.

Allen called for Mana, but Mana wasnt dead. But Neah is the other half of Mana, so maybe he got called in place of Mana?

And then Neah cursed Allen and thats when he passed the Noahs memory to him?

And that is why his scar changes shape the first time he plays in the Ark?

So… If Mana is the Earl. And Neah is the Earl. And Allen is Neah. Then Allen is the Earl.
Neah is Mana’s brother. Mana adopted Allen. Meaning Mana is allen’s father and Neah is Allen’s uncle.
But Allen is Neah. So Allen is his own uncle.
But Neah and Mana are the same person.
So Allen is his father and uncle, and himself.

WHAT EVEN IS GOING ON WITH FAMILY RELATIONS ANYMORE?!??

this is relevant

“Has anyone considered what this new chapter changes for the fanfic…”

…Unpopular opinion, but I thought they were a bit strange to begin with…
Anyway, doesn’t that just mean Neah x Earl is Neah x Mana, or selfcest? .-. (Still no clue about Allen though…)

Yea I never really shipped either of those so… but I have seen a lot around lol.

Well for the Allen one, if the Earl=Mana then it was Allen and his adoptive father which sounds weird… =s

Has anyone considered what this new chapter changes for the fanfic world?

EarlxNeah fanfics are very weird now.

As are AllenxEarl ones.

Of course a lot of those fics refer to Earl as ‘Adam’, so yea…

Just some observations and wonders of what’s going on in DGM atm (at chapter 219). Lots of spoilers including information from novels. Don’t read if you don’t want to know.

I just wanted to point out a few things…

It was heavily implied that Apo taking Allen’s innocence would kill Allen. I’m pretty sure he had no intentions of leaving Allen alive, just like what he did with Cross.

Allen’s innocence was destroyed before the hole was created in his heart, so it couldn’t have been because a shard of it was still in him that it wasn’t destroyed…

I kind of want to see a dystopian post-apoc YA novel or film where the protagonist escapes at the end, only to discover that the “apocalypse” was a localised phenomenon, the rest of the world is perfectly fine, and everybody has just agreed to quietly ignore Crazy Dystopia Land.

(For bonus points, have this happen at the end of the first installment, and the follow-up is a low-key character study about the protagonist’s struggle to adjust to normal life and deal with the fact that, to the rest of the world, the genocidal dictator who had her family set on fire is a wacky Internet meme.)

The worst thing about this post is that within literally ten minutes of submitting it, I got multiple asks wanting to know which real-world country I was referring to, because there’s more than one that precisely fits this scenario – right down to the “bloodthirsty dictator who the rest of the world treats as a wacky meme” part.

Isn’t this basically the Divergent series? Ive only seen the movies so far though but that’s what it seems like is happening. >.>
