Allen cried out as Lavi entered him. He remembered that at first, on the train, it had been uncomfortable, but right now there was nothing but pure pleasure. He had barely taken a breath when Lavi began to move, causing Allen to cry out again.

“Lavi…” he whimpered, gripping the sheets tightly as he tried to keep himself grounded. “Ah…” He could feel the ears on his head twitching as he gazed up at Lavi with a heated look. It wasn’t enough, but at the same time, it was too much. He felt like he was going to burst into flames from the heat, he felt like he would pass out from the sensitivity… and he wanted so much more.

Lavi cracked open one blurry eye and looked across the living room,
confused as to why he was on his couch instead of in his own bed. Once
the haze of sleep cleared up, Lavi recalled the events of the night
before. He could feel the weight of Allen’s feet in his lap and his
soft, rhythmic breathing from the other side of the couch.

At
least he was still alive, and for that, Lavi sighed in relief. He
stretched his arms over his head and leaned back to stare up at the
cracked ceiling of his apartment. He was dead tired – what little sleep
he had gotten was not enough to make up for the long day and night he
had had. Reaching over to the coffee table, he picked up his phone and
looked at the time. With a wince, he realized he had to be at work in
less than an hour.

Sparing a quick look at Allen before making
his decision, Lavi stood up, carefully moving Allen’s feet aside, and
pulled up the contacts in his phone. Finding the store’s number, he
called it and headed to the kitchen.

The phone rang once, twice,
three times before Lavi heard the grumpy old man answer. “Hey, Gramps.
Sorry to call you so late but I can’t come in today.”

Lavi winced
when a slew of curses flew his way from the other end of the phone.
“I’m sorry! I must have the flu of something! I was throwing up all
night.”

He lied easily, making sure to keep his voice just off
enough to sound like he was in too much pain to talk properly. Even if
Gramps thought he was lying, he could still get away with it if he put
on a good enough performance.

When he finally managed to get off
the phone, Lavi sighed. At least he wouldn’t have to go to work today.
And if he had to push his luck and squeeze an extra day in, he was sure
he could manage.

Allen had nearly drifted back to sleep when he felt something move under his feet. At first, he thought it must have been his imagination, but then he felt hands move his feet aside and heard the creak of springs of the couch as someone stood. He stayed still, keeping his breathing even as he heard footsteps leave the room.

Did he sleep there all night…? Allen wondered. To make sure I was ok? He heard a voice from the kitchen, and sat up slowly as he listened, pulling the blanket over his shoulders. He felt rather guilty that Lavi had called out of work for his sake… but for all he knew maybe Lavi actually was sick. It had been very cold and wet last night… And must have stayed up late, since he spotted his clothes clean and folded on the table.

At some point Allen had turned onto his right side, curled up with his back towards the window. The moonlight lit up the room, making his hair glow… the parts that were not still dark with blood, at least. His room was chilly, making him shiver in the thin bloodstained tshirt he still wore. He remained asleep, completely oblivious to the sounds of the window opening and Lavi‘s voice.

Lavi’s reply came before Allen had a chance to doze off again, and he quickly replied.

To: Lavi

Yea, Ill let you know.

Of course, he probably would cancel that one too… Even though he knew he couldn’t avoid them forever. His friends would realize why he cancelled the next time he saw them. But he didn’t want to deal with trying to make excuses and stories for now. He really didn’t know what he could tell them, he could tell the injury needed stitches and would be obvious he didn’t get any medical attention when they saw him next…

Cant do anything about it for now… He just wanted to sleep. He got up, feeling a bit dizzy, to shove a chair in front of his door. It wouldnt stop anyone if they were determined to get in, but it made him feel a bit better. He knew that the house was empty for now, but he had no idea when someone would return. And if they had gone this far already, he was terrified of what they might do next. Maybe I should just let them kill me… he thought, not for the first time. It would be an easy way out… and it would be satisfying to know that they would likely be jailed, it was much harder to hide murder than abuse. But his friends…

No use dwelling on it, if it happens, it happens. He thought, sprawling over the covers of his bed. He could think about all of it later, after he had a nap.

In minutes, Allen had fallen asleep.

After he sent the text, Allen let his eyes fall closed, making no attempt to get up to go under the covers. He felt exhausted, probably a combination of the pain, blood loss, and stress. Even so, he really did wish he could have gone to his party tonight. Hanging out with his friends always made him forget about the bad things for a while.

His phone chimed a few minutes later, startling him out of the daze he had fallen into. He unlocked it to read the text and smiled. Typical Lavi, wanting to find some way to still celebrate, even if it involved soup instead of cake… But he doubted Kanda would be disappointed if it were cancelled.

For a few moments, Allen wondered what his friends reactions would be if they saw him like this. Even Kanda might worry… He knew they would do anything they could to help, and Allen desperately wanted it. But wouldn’t it be selfish to use his friends to help him get out of his own problem…? They have their own lives and problems… I cant make them deal with mine too.

To Lavi:

Its ok, I just need to rest a bit. Sorry for cancelling when everyone was looking forward to it. You guys could just hang out without me, I dont mind.

Hopefully Lavi would decide he wasn’t sick enough to worry about. Back when they were both in high school, he had a bad habit of sneaking through his window at the most random times to visit him, and would come check on him whenever he was absent ‘sick’ for a day. It really was a miracle his foster family never caught the two of them… Allen had thought it was sweet, though, even though it meant he always had to make sure he hid any injuries even when he was at home.

Lavi had stopped the surprise visits once he had graduated, and for a while Allen had missed them. Now he was glad Lavi had stopped, it meant he could lie here and sleep without worrying about covering the slashes up somehow…

I’m going to put this under cuts because triggers lol

Allen sighed, staring in the mirror as he carefully wiped blood off of his face.
He really didn’t hold back… he thought, staring at the wounds on his face. This will scar for sure… I wont be able to hide it at all… He couldn’t put any makeup over it at all until it healed, it was far too big and would be too obvious even under makeup.

He doesn’t care if I cant hide it anymore… the thought of that was scary, at least before he could count on his foster parents being sure to not hurt him too much to be obvious to others. But it was winter holidays now, and Allen would be turning 18 in just a few days. He wondered if he would survive long enough to leave, if they were starting to get this violent… He didn’t have enough money yet for his own apartment. When he turned 18, they no longer would be paid to keep him, and he wondered if they would just kick him out, or maybe try to make him stay and get a job… or worse.

He wondered what his ‘soulmate’ must be thinking… if he even had one.
Allen had had so many injuries, whoever his ‘soulmate’ was must have
noticed the marks. But it was not common that people ever actually met
their ‘soulmate’, and some people didn’t even have one. There were so
many people in the world… it was unlikely Allen would ever find his.
And even more unlikely they would ‘fall in love’ like some romance
novel… After all… who could love a freak like me… Allen thought, with a glance at his left arm.

He sighed again, throwing the bloodied rag in his sink, and left the small bathroom to flop onto his bed. “So much for birthday plans…” he muttered. He knew Lavi was trying to get the whole gang together for a birthday party for him. As much as he missed them all, even Kanda, since they graduated, he didn’t want to worry them. None of them knew about how his foster family treated him. And he wanted to keep it that way. But even if he skipped out on his party, he was going to run into them eventually…

Well, I can take care of that when it comes… make an excuse of some sort… He pulled out his phone to text Lavi. Hopefully he hadn’t bought anything yet.

To Lavi:

Hey, I came down with something, wont be able to make it to party. Sorry.

“The Ouija board just spelled ‘fuck’ and I think we should listen to it.” (From Lavi, of course)

ruzuki:

“Lavi, I can tell you are moving the pointer.” Allen said, trying not to laugh. “Why would you want to listen to pervy ghost anyways? If it wanted us to fuck it would stay to watch…” The mental image of that was too much, and Allen started snickering.

“Damn it, Lavi. This was supposed to be a spooky thing…”

The pointer started to move again, and Lavi gasped, looking back down
at the board. “Oh, my God. It’s the ghost! It’s spelling something!”
Lavi said, his voice heavy with fake shock.

“A-L-L-E-N-I-S-A-P-R-U-D-E,”
Lavi said each letter as the words were spelled out. “Allen! The ghost
says you’re a prude! You’re not gonna let some dead guy talk to you like
that are you? Pretty sure this means you need to take off your clothes
now.”

“You need to work on your seduction techniques I think.” Allen said with a smirk, but reached up to his collar to slowly untie the red ribbon he was wearing. “So… the ghost wants me to take my clothes off… do you?” He hoped he was looking sexy and not just ridiculous as he let the ribbon fall, landing on the board.

“The Ouija board just spelled ‘fuck’ and I think we should listen to it.” (From Lavi, of course)

“It is spooky,” Lavi insisted, his fingers still on the pointer, brushing against Allen’s. “And I’m not moving it. It’s totally a ghost and it totally wants us to do it. I say, why not give the dead a show? Remind them what it’s like to be alive for a while?” He grinned at Allen, raising his eyebrows suggestively.

Allen rolled his eyes, still grinning. “You are such a dork, Lavi. If you wanted to fuck me, all you had to do was ask… But I dont want to if the ghosts are watching, that sounds so spooky.” His grin grew, Lavi was fun to mess with sometimes.

With a sigh, Lavi stood up and took the dirty dishes to the kitchen.
He padded around the apartment, picking up the discarded clothes that
Allen had been wearing. Taking a quick sniff, he realized they were
filthy – though that was quite honestly an understatement. He didn’t
know how Allen could stand staying in those clothes, though he probably
didn’t have a choice.

Going through the pockets to make sure he
wasn’t washing any valuables or important items, Lavi took the clothes
and the jacket Allen had been wearing earlier and stuffed them in his
half full laundry basket. With one last look to make sure Allen was
completely asleep, he headed downstairs to the laundry room.

While
the laundry was washing, Lavi returned to his apartment, opening and
closing the door as quietly as he could. He half expected Allen to be
awake again, but no – he was still out like a light.

Grabbing one
of his books off the end table, he sat back down on the couch with
Allen. He looked over at his sleeping figure throughout the rest of the
night as he waited to finish the laundry. He kept checking to make sure
Allen was still breathing ok, still alive. After a few hours, Lavi
realized he was worrying over nothing. With the laundry done and folded
on the coffee table, he finally managed to doze off, book discarded in
his lap as he slumped over the edge of the couch.

Allen slept deeply, the exhaustion from both the hypothermia and the weeks of sleeping on the streets enough for him to not even dream.

When he finally started to awake, the first thing he noticed was how comfortable he was. He had been sleeping outdoors on the ground or benches, so laying on the couch bundled in blankets felt amazing. It took a few minutes for him to piece what he could remember about the previous night together, and remember where he was.

He snuggled deeper into the blanket with a small smile. He had almost died… but Lavi had saved him. He was grateful, most people would have just looked the other way and left him to die… but Lavi had taken him into his home, even fed him, to keep him alive.

He wanted to thank the man… but he was too comfortable right now to want to move to look for him. He could pretend to be asleep a bit longer… After all, he couldn’t stay here long once he woke up. Both of them would return to their normal lives…
