“What? Well, why wouldn’t I look like myself? I’m the one that had their body imposed into this place by means I won’t even begin to act like I can know right now.” Wasn’t it a bigger priority to find a way out of the caverns they were in? It felt fine when they were just controlling pixelixed characters, but her lack of fighting experience (let alone her lack of using a magic freaking staff) made her cautious about spending too long in the caverns. “And I don’t think that questioning how my face looks is the biggest problem at this moment, don’t you think? ‘We’ just faced a mini-boss, so I kind of want to get out of here before any of its lackeys come running.”

Calera took care not to point out how Allen’s body looked relative to his face. Their body types appeared to have not changed (her mage DEFINITELY had more cleavage than the dress was showing now), but the etchings and markings that Allen had given his character, namely the tattoo had appeared to mark their own bodies as well. Either way, Allen looked relatively unchanged, if a bit more exposed than she had ever seen him dress before.

Attempting to stretch, Calera slowly arched her back as she bent one of her arms behind her head. Until her side twitched, the fabric strained against her, and she was forced to stop so she wouldn’t aggravate her injury anymore. “I think that’s enough of that, but my point still stands. We need to find a way out of this cavern.”

“…I kind of figured it was a case of mind being pulled into your game body. That’s how it always is in the anime. I hadn’t even considered that our bodies somehow got pulled in…” Allen’s game character looked very similar to how he did in life, with really the only additions being the tattoos, which had functions in the game so it made sense they remained.

“Well, we had nearly cleared the area, right? So the treasure room should be up ahead. The altar can warp us out. Assuming the game mechanics work properly, of course…” Allen pointed down the path they had yet to explore.

“You probably really should drink a potion. There may be enemies up ahead… How do we even fight now?” He pulled his daggers out and made some slashing motions, nothing seemed to happen.

Calera herself was worn down from the whole ordeal. After having Kanda and Lavi himself put Allen through so much in a day, maybe ice cream was a good idea. “Make certain you have an excuse for Jerry, Lavi. We don’t want him wondering why we’re all suddenly wanting a treat.” Calera warned Lavi, standing up to follow the duo. It wasn’t like she didn’t want something sweet too.

They could get their ice cream, and she’d probably wait for either Lavi to screw up with his name, or herself just to say it twice before she took off these ridiculous triggers herself. Of course, it was a bit hard to tell how he really felt when all she could see in the guy was a child.

Lavi lead a still sniffling Allen by the hand towards the cafeteria, glad there was no one in the halls at the moment to question what was wrong with Allen.

“I’m pretty sure Jerry never needs an excuse for Allen to have a treat. He will just assume we are joining in to hang out.” he replied. He wasn’t too worried, he was sure Jerry wouldn’t even think to question why they all wanted ice cream.

“Come on Allen, you’re acting childish!” Lenalee reprimanded, a teasing tone in her voice. “Just open the door and let me see how you look!”

Lenalee wasn’t really in the mood to use her innocence to bust down the door. Oh, she would love to just to speed up the process; however, the sound might bring Komui or someone else running, and she couldn’t have that! So instead, she looked over to the finder she had led over to Allen’s door, and smiled with something that Calera could only describe as Komui-like. “Mind? I’m certain your sister would be glad to help if i need it! Or maybe even brother!”

And this was one of the main reasons why Calera hated having a sister as a scientist. Calera knew those were empty threats, but the thought of it was frightening enough to just go ahead and call out. Walking up to the door, Calera called into the small crack between the door and the wall as clearly and calmly as she could.

“Look, this will just go faster if you just open the door, Allen. just hurry up and let us in, okay?”

Allen growled as his body rose against his will.

“Would it be easier to just tell Komui I want to marry Lenalee and let him end me? Or go insult Kanda?” Allen grumbled to himself as he moved for the door. He had a feeling that he wouldn’t even get a chance to try to provoke anyone once Lenalee stepped over that threshold. Was worth a shot, though, since he had a feeling everyone was going to see his ridiculous outfit anyways, might as well be while he’s trying to escape an even darker fate.

“Alright, Ill open the door.” he called, hoping they were far enough away from the door to grab him. He threw the door open, and bolted out of his room. Komui, Kanda, it didn’t really matter as long as one of them put him into a coma long enough for this thing to wear off. Maybe that was a bit dramatic, but he figured desperate times called for desperate measures.

Calera was trapped between a wall and a duo of hard places. Maybe it was best if she said Allen’s name now, but the woman had no idea what would happen if Allen switched while still being so upset. What if he tried to claw someone with his sharp hand? Or even activate his innocence by accident? She settled on joining Lavi in helping to soothe him instead, rubbing Allen’s back gently as she hummed a small tune she picked up from her hometown.

But if anything, the sword-happy person just seemed to get more irritated by the unfolding events. Crying wasn’t something Kanda dealt with well, especially when it came to the warbling of a ‘child’. Kanda decided he was finally bored of the situation, and turned away as if to just leave the room without a second thought.

Lavi noticed Kanda turning to leave, but he had a bigger problem at the moment; an armful of fully grown Allen crying and clinging to him like a child. It would be cute in other circumstances, but right now he just wanted Allen to stop crying.

“Shh, its okay.” he said in a soothing voice, rocking Allen a bit as he had seen mothers do so often in his travels. It seemed to be working, Allen’s crying quieted, until he was just sniffling.

“Ice cream…?” he asked in a hoarse voice, and Lavi nodded.

“Yea, lets go get ice cream.”

Allen was a few minutes late, but managed to locate the restaurant that they had agreed to meet at. He spotted Calera and joined her at the booth, putting his bag next to him as he dropped into the seat.

“Sorry Im late, had to pick up spare batteries.” he said. “I found some more information… but I think its best to eat before I share it.”

“Agreed, besides, I want to get some energy in me before we have to see that hellhole anyway.” Calera replied. “Anything you want me to get? You head up to the counter in this place, so I can grab your food if you’d like me to.”

The batteries were a welcome addition to the arsenal Calera had bought for herself. No one needed that flashlight going out like last time.

“I’ll do my order, itll be easier.” Allen said. He made his way to the counter, looking at the options for a few moments before ordering. He ignored the look he got from the cashier when he gave her his huge order, he had more to worry about tonight, and he needed the energy.

The cruel alarm clock buzzed Calera wake at 11 A.M. Stumbling out of bed, she sadly noted the lack of sleep, and added caffeine on the list of supplies to acquire that day. As much as she wanted to try and rest a bit more, there were quite a few items to buy, some requiring a bit of time. Pulling on a simple pair of jeans that allowed actual movement beyond a staggered step, and a soft sweater for the cold environment she was going to plunge herself into later that day, Calera felt ready enough to grab the stuff she needed.

So she bid her empty apartment goodbye, but not before she rummaged through a small stand her twin sister kept by their bed. Calera herself wan’t very wealthy, she in fact was far from it. Relying on her twin sister for help with rent and food, it was a parasitic relationship that Calera hoped to be able to rise out of eventually. But that day was not today.

Calera knew that her twin kept an emergency credit card in there, and although she felt bad for taking her twin’s money, it wasn’t as if Alayna couldn’t afford the purchases. Finding the card hidden in a crisp white envelope, Calera swiped it out and shoved it into her pocket, grabbed a large backpack, and strode off into the street.

Her first stop was at a local gun shop. She knew her background check was clean, so it wouldn’t take too long, but the manager might find something odd about a young woman like herself purchasing multiple tasers and a few shotguns with hollow-point variety bullets. ‘I hope that background checks don’t include why you need the weapon..’ The man behind the counter was rightfully concerned; however the situation barely took her until 12:45 to get all the weapons she had aimed for.

Calera still had quite a long time to search and find a few more items, so she first dragged herself over to a small coffee shop (after dropping off her weapons back at her home, there was no way she was just going to carry all of those in broad daylight), and bought herself a well-caffeinated latte in the hopes that it would help wake her up a bit more. As she sipped the caffeine, she recognized a familiar face sitting calmly only two tables away. It was the manager that was always dragging them outside, that stupid smile plastered on his face, and here he was, acting the the world was full of daisies or something!

Causing a scene would just bring more trouble. Slowly, Calera stood up, bought another two drinks for the road, and left the small shop. Not before she was given a cheerful wave goodbye from the slimebag, but Calera did her best to ignore the gesture.

The rest of the items that day included body armor and a simple small self-generator, that she was certain to charge before she left. that would be what she hid in her bag, along with the taser and guns. The large amount of power that would be sapped from the generator would probably render it obsolete after about fifteen minutes, but those minutes could be used to help themselves reach the breaker box, or simply wait out the clock.

Night was creeping in, so Calera prepared for it by donning half of the armor under her clothes, and pulling the weighty backpack onto her back. The diner was close to the resturaunt, so Allen should have been able to find it alright. ‘Why am I worried? It’s not like I’ve ever seen the guy get lost before.’

So she walked in, placed the backpack calmly underneath her feet, and ordered a small snack for the both of them, in order to have something welcoming there when Allen walked into the place.
