“I don’t know maybe…not sure what I’d be doin’ without Bookman practically adopting me.” The redhead shrugged, that was an odd thing to just bring up. “Why ya askin’?”
“I was just thinking…” Allen trailed off, unsure how to explain. “I find myself wishing I could change my own fate… but I feel that the only way to change the outcome is to change what has happened in the past, change who you are.” He sighed, he probably wasn’t making any sense.
“If given the choice to change my fate, to start over… between this life and a life where I had not been an Exorcist, I’m not sure if I would chose to do anything differently.”
Lavi nodded to him, pleased it was helping. “This is what I drink when I’m not feelin’ so great.” It doesn’t always work when it was really bad but a majority of times it did.
Allen thought it might have been Lavi being so understanding and accommodating, rather than just the tea, that was making him feel better. But he didn’t say anything, and finished his tea.
He fiddled with the empty teacup for a few moments, before giving a small sigh.
”I’m really tired… I should probably try to sleep now.”
The redhead smiled, fetching his own cup before taking a seat near the shorter male. “How is it?” He asked, taking a sip. He picked the one that normally helped calm his own nerves in these situations.
Allen gave Lavi a soft, sleepy smile. “Its good. Thanks.” He sipped at it silently for a few moments. “I feel a lot better now.. thanks, Lavi.”
The redhead started making the tea. “ True, but it’s still like a death trap. I tripped and fell this morning over a stack of books.” At this point he should know better, but he was half asleep then.
It didn’t take long for the tea to be ready. He brought a cup carefully over to the younger male, making sure not to fall and spill it on either of them. Or the books, Bookman would kill him if he got it on the books. “Here, don’t burn yourself.”
Allen took the cup carefully, and sipped his tea quietly. The warmth and scent of the tea, along with the sense of safety in Lavi’s presence, was starting to finally make him relaxed and sleepy.
The walk to his room was silent. They didn’t need to go to the cafeteria for the tea, the redhead had recently acquired a nice tea pot with a small burner. A handful of teas and a few cups were also given.
He let go of Allen’s hand before closing the door behind them. “You can sit on the bed or by the desk. Sorry about the mess…” It was always a mess.
Allen hesitated a moment, before moving to sit on the bed. He felt exhausted, and the bed looked much more inviting than the chair.
He had never seen Lavi’s room before, but he was not surprised that it was a mess of clothes, books, and paper. Still…
“Its not as bad as Komui’s office.” he said, stepping carefully over books and papers to sit on his bed.
He should have expected that. It took weeks before his sleep had become decent after the ark. Lavi sighed, taking the smaller male’s hand to pull him along. “Come on, we’re gonna get ya some tea and try to help calm things down.”
Allen nodded, letting Lavi pull him along. He tightened his grip on Lavi’s hand, feeling a bit better with the contact. It gave him something real to focus on, to remind himself that Lavi was safe.
“Well so far I’m the only other person whose head shes played around with.” He sighed, he still had nightmares from it. Hopefully Allen wouldn’t have to suffer that.
“Hopefully she wont get the chance to do that to anyone else…” Allen said, and then yawned. “I really should rest, though… all of this was very exhausting.”
