There is a post going around that is very annoying and troubling to me because it contains false information about the American political system that could end up working against Bernie Sanders. So I wanted to clear some things up.
Donald Trump is NOT winning. There is no “winning” at this stage. There have not been any elections! At this point, the polls are done basically on name recognition. That’s how Deez Nuts ended up getting polled at 9% in my lovely home state of North Carolina, because people recognized “Deez Nuts” when asked. But literally there are no elections for Donald Trump to have won. That post says he’s ahead with votes… but there aren’t any votes for him to be ahead with. The first Republican primary in in February. At that point, we will have votes. Now, we do not.
I want to reiterate, the polls mean NOTHING right now. Literally Deez Nuts y’all. Deez Nuts. Deez Nuts is not a candidate that people would vote for… Deez Nuts is a candidate that made people laugh when asked. These are the current polls and their questions. http://www.pollingreport.com/wh16rep.htm
These polls are about the Republican nomination. I’m going to explain how the American political system works for a second here… See… We have two major parties, though the small parties have to do this same process too… but it’s bigger for the two major parties. So candidates run for the nomination… because that party can only nominate one person for president even though many within that party want to run. So before the election is to take place, each party has a “primary” election… where they vote for whoever will represent that party. Once someone wins the primary elections, that person is the presidential candidate for that party and will run against the other presidential candidates for the actual presidency in November of the election year (I word it that way because that’s 2016, and some people seem to think it’s this November). So currently, Donald Trump is running against other Republican candidates (honestly, they’re all horrible and the problem we’ve run into this year is that they don’t have a good front runner because their whole party is so split and divided about everything that they have no cohesive purpose, just as they haven’t for the past 8 years other than “keep Obama from doing anything” but they can’t run on that now because Obama doesn’t matter so they’re all just floundering) to become the person who runs against whoever wins the Democratic nomination for president in November 2016. He is NOT currently running for president.
In some states, you must be a registered member of that political party to vote in the primaries. Which means you must be a registered Republican to vote against Trump in the primaries. In some states, you can be unaffiliated or independent and vote for ONE primary, not more. Regardless, you cannot vote against Trump in the Republican primaries and for Sanders in the Democratic primaries!!!!!! I have bolded this because it is SUPER important and people NEED to understand. If Trump wins the nomination, it is beyond unlikely he would win the presidency. If he wins the nomination, that would essentially give the Democrats the presidency because enough of the public is disgusted that that would never happen. Sanders is not a shoe in though! With Trump winning the nomination, no matter what Democratic candidate… they’d be a shoe in. But we need to be fighting for Sanders to have the Democratic nomination! If we don’t vote for Sanders in the Democratic primary against Hillary Clinton, we don’t get to vote for Sanders for president! He’s come so much farther than anyone thought he would. These are the current Democratic polls http://www.pollingreport.com/wh16dem.htm We REALLY need to help Bernie.
Encouraging people to vote AGAINST Trump in the Republican primaries PREVENTS people from voting FOR Sanders in the Democratic primaries.
In conclusion VOTE FOR SANDERSin the Democratic primaries NOT against Trump in the Republican primaries.
Please boost this, our future literally depends on people understanding this.
So the “Bernie Sanders Exposed” group on Facebook put this up as I guess reasons not to vote for him but all I’ve been seeing all day is people going FUCK YEAH I’LL VOTE FOR THAT.
PRINT THIS OUT AS A CAMPAIGN POSTER I CAN GET BEHIND THIS
I like Bernie and his ideas but if everything is free then where does the money to pay for them come from
The federal funding for Sanders’s proposal would come from a tax on financial transactions. Stock trades, bonds, and derivative trading would be taxed at rates of 0.5 percent, 0.1 percent, and 0.005 percent, respectively. Supporters of the financial transaction tax, which they call the “Robin Hood tax,” say it is not only a progressive way to raise revenue but would also discourage dangerous levels of Wall Street speculation.
His bill, called The College for All Act, would lower interest rates on federal student loans, give graduates a chance to refinance existing loans at lower rates, and stop the government from making profits on student loans.
To fund the legislation by generating up to $300 billion a year, Sanders proposes instituting a 0.5% tax on trades of stocks and 0.1% tax on bonds and an even smaller fee on so-called derivatives, such as stock options and futures contracts.
“It is time for us to end private, for-profit participation in delivering basic coverage. It is time for the United States to provide a Medicare-for-all single-payer health coverage program,“ Sanders said.
While making the case for a single-payer system nationwide, Sanders applauded his home state of Vermont for its progress toward developing its own single-payer system which could become a model for the nation.
The Program amends the tax code to create the American Health Security Trust Fund and appropriates to the Fund specified tax revenues, current health program receipts, and tax credits and subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. While the final structure of the financing component is still under consideration and is subject to change, the tax revenues in the draft include a new health care income tax, an employer payroll tax, a surcharge on high income individuals, and a tax on securities transactions.
A link to a summary of the bill. You’ll notice that it says that it eliminates medicare, medicaid and several other benefits, but that doesn’t matter because it gives those benefits right back under a different name to ALL Americans. Oh, and look at that:
“Amends the Internal Revenue Code to impose on individuals: (1) a health care income tax, and (2) an income tax surcharge on amounts of modified adjusted gross income exceeding $1 million. Imposes an excise tax on securities transactions and allows an income tax credit for such taxes.”
So it pays for itself with slightly higher taxes on corporations and the very wealthy. So does the college bill. Yes, they’ll bitch and moan about how it’s going to kill the economy if rich people have to pay one cent more in taxes, but it won’t. If this bill passes they’ll make it sound like it’s the end of the world, but then they’ll be used to it in less than 10 years and it will not have affected the economy in any negative way. They do this every time there’s an increase in taxes. It fucking happened when medicare was introduced. When the minimum wage was increased. When the minimum wage was INTRODUCED. When we got rid of slavery. When we introduced child labor laws. Every restriction and new tax is the “end of business in America,” except that it never is.
So obviously, it’s not magical fairy dust free, it’s an increase in taxes free, but you know what I’m okay with? Paying higher taxes so that I don’t have to pay for college or health insurance. Because both of those cost a TON in the short and long term and financially ruin Americans who need to pay for them but can’t. You know what almost never financially ruins people as long as they actually pay them? Taxes.
tl;dr, Bernie Sanders does have a plan to pay for providing college and healthcare for all, and it’s sustainable.
Bernie Sanders has an ACTUAL WORKABLE PLAN to pay for his proposals to provide free college education and free healthcare to everyone, and
it will work, despite that Conservatives will lose their minds over how it will destroy America.
Personally, I call that a side benefit of the Sanders Plan.
okay but where is his plan to give us unicorns. i want a goddamn unicorn.

#Voting #Register #Reblog
This is so important. Like politics are shitty either way but making our voices heard is STILL AND WILL REMAIN IMPORTANT. Go vote for your candidate.
I, as an American of the United States of America, would LOVE to vote for Bernie Sanders
I promise to Reblog every pro-Bernie post I see until election day. Every single one.
our first meme president
Bernie > Hillary
i can tell that the Democratic Party Establishment and their Wall Street owners are getting really afraid of Bernie Sanders, because the hit pieces are starting to come out.
Keep at it, Senator Sanders. You’re not the candidate we deserve, but you’re definitely the candidate we need.
I’m only a baby so I can’t vote but if I could it would be this guy!!!
Okay this is funny, because Black tumblr was dead pushin everyone and even they mothers to vote for Bernie Sanders! I can’t tell y’all how many posts I came across encouragin people to register to vote and vote for Bernie Sanders!
Bernie Sanders got your vote because he acknowledges that the police brutality in America is extremely critical in today’s society and a reform must be made to change the way the police behave and act towards us, ESPECIALLY TOWARDS BLACK PEOPLE.
Bernie Sanders got your vote because he wants public education, including public colleges to be free.
Bernie Sanders got your vote because he wants healthcare for all citizens.
Bernie Sanders got your vote because he marched to MLK the day he made his “I Have A Dream” speech and organized resistance to segregation.
He got your vote because he believes that minimum wages should be higher for everybody, is aware of global warming, AND is aware of economic inequality.
but the MOMENT y’all hear that Bernie Sanders voted for war on Palestine, all of a sudden, you aint supportin’ him?
Like y’all expectin this nigga to be PERFECT!
Y’all was ridin’ his dick from the moment he announced his race to be the next US president, and y’all praised him for every word he said just moments ago!
Now he loses all credibility because of a vote? Y’all fake as fuck. Who you gonna vote for now? Hillary?
SHE AINT NO BETTER THAN YO MAN BERNIE!
WHO ELSE YOU GONNA VOTE FOR?!
People want politicians to be perfect. We need to realize that we will never agree with everything a politician has done in their life.
Is it honestly that bad that a JEWISH MAN voted for a war to protect the only Jewish state ON THE PLANET! Seriously. Also Jews happen to be the group of people indigenous to “Palestine”. The non-Jewish population didn’t even consider themselves “Palestinians” in mass until groups like PLO started using it to further it’s goals(even today their government leaders commonly call the populance Saudis and Egyptians because they’re descendents from Ottoman merchants). Don’t get me wrong. I don’t 100% agree with Israel(most Jews, Zionists, etc. don’t) but you can’t make it seem like he’s bad for supporting it in anyway. Also look at the history of the Jewish people. We’ve been in diaspora for the last 2000 years!! The term “Palestine” is a reminder of the Romans who slaughtered thousands of us!! It’s unfair to judge someone without knowing the history of their people.
Bernie Sanders voted for war with Palestine? As in, voted to take the United States into war with Palestine? Are there any receipts on this or is this some kind of bullshit argument where voting for an aid package makes him the modern Jewish incarnation of Genghis Khan?
That is why the older generation is trying to suppress your vote. They know that you can change the world they destroyed.
The first step we should take is getting Bernie Sanders elected President of the United States. We should show the world that we refuse to stand aside while an older and smaller generation insists on the destruction of our Democracy.
This is just the beginning, This is the first year we have as the largest voting generation in US History.
Let’s make the most of it.
Don’t forget to register as a democrat and vote in the primaries!
Please vote in the primaries, it’s arguably more important than the general election will be this time around!
Young people you are our nation’s hope, get out and vote in the primaries, electing Bernie Sanders would be your first step in undoing the damage that has been done to our nation. This is your country, your world, take it back from those of my generation and the one before which have brought it to this horrific point. You are the world’s hope, use your power, claim your place as leaders, visionaries, and reformers. You can save the world!

fucking FINALLY there’s a post that actually talks about the primaries, less than half of the people I see lobbying for Sanders even know to mention primaries because no millennials ever go vote in them. It’s time to change that. Primaries are usually clustered around march/april 2016 unless you’re in New Hampshire, Dunno when it is then. But anyway, yeah, important
