“Nice to meet you, Allen. Though I will say that I wish it were under different circumstances.” Lavi didn’t bother correcting him that he’d told Lavi his name on the bus, as it didn’t much matter. Allen was likely not in the most coherent mindset as it was.

Lavi returned to the kitchen and grabbed the ramen that was warming up on the counter. The noodles looked cooked through now, so he stirred in the seasoning and brought it out to his new house guest. “I figured you were hungry, so I made this quick,” he said setting it on the table just in front of Allen. “I’m not exactly a great cook, but I figured you needed something warm.”

Allen nodded a greeting, and finished his cocoa as Lavi left the room again. He put the cup down and snuggled himself further into the blanket. He felt comfortable now, but not as sleepy as before. Before long Lavi returned, setting a cup of noodles on the table.

“Thank you…” he said, picking up the cup and sitting up a little straighter. It wasn’t until he took his first bite that he realized how hungry he was. When was the last time I ate… yesterday? Before that? His mind was still muddled, he couldn’t remember. But there was food now, so that was all that mattered. He ate at a slower pace than usual, he was trying to act polite, and he was still having issues coordinating his thawing limbs. But he still finished off the noodles quickly. He sighed a bit, he wished there was more, but he couldn’t be rude and ask when his host had already been so helpful. At least he was alive, fed, and was warming up.
