Lavi sneaked up to the front door, wincing at the boards creaking under his feet. It must have been past 3 am. already. He fumbled for his key in the darkness and thrust it in the lock on the fourth try, but when he tried to turn it, his hand was met with resistance.

“What the hell,” he grumbled, wiggling the key in the lock. He didn’t want to turn on the porch light and disturb his flatmate, so he tried to turn the key again and again, pushing harder each time until he heard a soft cling and the key broke in half, one part left in his hand, the other still in the lock.

Great. Now they’ll have to get a locksmith first thing in the morning. Allen sure will be delighted. As if they didn’t have other problems… But that could wait until the morning, and right now Lavi’s top priority was to finally go to bed. Which meant he had to get inside somehow. He scratched his head, looking around haplessly, until he remembered the basement window. It should be open, he’d always left it open. Lavi rushed to the backyard and sure enough, there it was. Relieved, he tossed his bag in through the narrow opening and followed suit.

His head went in without problems, but the moment Lavi pushed his arms through, he knew he was fucked – absolutely, royally fucked with cherry on top. He squirmed experimentally back and forth, but it didn’t change a thing: he couldn’t go either way. Trying to fend off the panic creeping up on him, Lavi reached for his bag, found his phone and opened up a new message.

To: Beansprout
Hey, are you up? If you’re not, can you wake up? I need some help.

Allen groaned as he heard his phone chime. He wanted to ignore it and go back to sleep, but instead he rolled over, searching blindly for his phone on the bedside table. It could be important, after all…

Once he read the text, he frowned. It wouldn’t be the first time Lavi had woken him up for something stupid, but Allen worried that there might actually be a problem. Did Lavi forget his keys? Or got stranded somewhere? He sighed, and typed out his reply.
