Sometimes I think about the fact that two of Howard Link’s childhood friends are dead, and the other three are now controlled by the Millennium Earl and the Noah.
Then I think about how he’ll probably have to fight them, because Hoshino is cruel like that.
He was a soldier following orders, but that excuses nothing in his eyes. It’s still a decision he made, something he chose to go through with without questioning his superior’s decisions, and so it’s something he has to live with. He’s not a man who passes blame or makes excuses. Continuing on while knowing that the Thirds were taken/killed because of something begun (at least physically) by his hands is the penance he’ll serve. Seeing all of this through to the end, no matter what the cost to himself, is just a part of the consequences he’ll make himself weather.
