“Jesus Christ, I thought you were dead there for a second,” Lavi said, relief flooding his face as he sighed. He looked down to see that Allen had only managed to get his pants undone before giving up. Forgoing the dry clothes for a moment, he grabbed the cocoa off of the coffee table and handed it to Allen.

“Here, you need to drink this. I really think you have hypothermia and you need to get your temperature up.” He waited until Allen had a firm grasp on the mug and the ceramic was pressed against his freezing lips before he let go. While Allen was drinking, He walked to an over-stuffed reading chair in the corner by the window and grabbed the fuzzy, green blanket from the back. Lavi pulled the blanket over Allen’s shoulders, wrapping him up in it.

“This is my warmest blanket. I think it’ll help some,” he added watching to make sure Allen was drinking all of the cocoa. As he was standing there, a thought occurred to him. “Ah, I suppose I never gave you my name, huh? I’m Lavi.”

Hypothermia…? Allen didn’t think it was that bad, he was just tired. But before he could speak, a mug was being pressed into his hands and guided to his mouth. The heat was a shock to his frozen body, but Allen sipped at the drink, enjoying the warmth.

He hadn’t noticed the man walk away until a blanket was being wrapped around his shoulders. The blanket really was warm, and Allen pulled his legs up to cover his feet as well. He sipped at his cocoa carefully, feeling a bit more energized now that he had something warm in his stomach. He hadn’t had anything as luxurious as cocoa in quite a while.

Allen looked up as the man spoke again, finally giving a name.

“…I’m Allen.” he said quietly. He thought he remembered telling Lavi before… but he wasn’t sure now.

“Hey, I made you some—oh, shit.” Lavi noticed right away that Allen had fallen asleep, his head resting back on the over-stuffed cushions of the couch. Setting the cocoa on the coffee table, Lavi hurried to Allen’s side and started slapping his cheek gently to wake him. His eyes scanned over the boy’s body as he shook him, taking in all the scars and abused skin. What worried him most was how thin he was – Lavi could practically see Allen’s ribs. That was most certainly not healthy.

“Wake up,” Lavi continued, hoping to shake him out of it. Allen’s skin was still cold and clammy. He had to get him warm and soon, or he might be forced to call an ambulance.

Allen slowly became aware of something tapping his cheek. He tried to ignore it, but instead something began shaking him.

“Wake up.” He heard someone speak, and it took Allen a few moments to process the words. Right… I was supposed to be doing something…

His eyes fluttered open, and when his vision cleared the redhead stranger was in front of him, looking worried.

It took a few minutes for the water to boil, and as Lavi stood there
staring at the barely steaming kettle, he started to wonder about his
life choices up until this point. What was he thinking, taking a
complete stranger into his home like this? For all he knew, the kid
could be a deranged psychopath and he just brought him in without a
thought.

‘Still,’ Lavi thought, ‘At least he was cute.’ Even with a heavy layer of dirt and grime, Lavi could tell Allen was handsome.

The whine of the teapot shook him out of his thoughts. Pulling it off
the stove, Lavi moved to the other counter where he had prepped the
food and drinks. He poured the hot water into the mug, the liquid
quickly mixing with the cocoa powder. Moving to the ramen, he poured a
generous helping of water over the noodles.

Grabbing the cocoa and leaving the noodles to heat up, he headed back into the living room.

Allen had really only meant to close his eyes for a few moments before finishing the task, but instead he started dozing off again, not even having bothered to fix the towel that had fallen off his shoulders during the attempt.

Lavi nodded, feeling a smidge of relief when he received a coherent reply from the frozen boy. “Ok, I’ll let you change in here. I’ll be in the kitchen. Holler if you need me.” Lavi got up and headed to his small kitchen, just out of sight.

He grabbed the old, metal teapot off the stove and filled it full of water. Once it was filled to capacity, he set it on the stove and turned the burner on high. He pulled out a couple of mugs from the cupboard, as well as a few packets of cocoa and instant ramen noodles. Trying to focus on making something for the kid to eat and warm him up, Lavi tried to ignore the sounds coming from the living room.

Allen waited until Lavi was out of sight, then looked at the sweatpants in his hand. He was so tired… but if he didn’t put them on himself, when that guy came back he would do it.

Allen tried to stand, but his numb legs refused to cooperate. After a few unsuccessful attempts, and nearly falling off the couch several times, he gave up and tried undoing the buttons instead.

After a lot of fumbling with his frozen fingers, he managed to at least unbutton his jeans. He groaned and leaned back into the couch, closing his eyes again. Exhausted as he was, the fact it took so much effort to even do one step of the process made him just want to give up.

letspleasuretogether:

Lavi had noticed Allen’s arm and how he covered up the scarred
appendage, but was too worried about how cold the other boy was to
bother with it. He didn’t care much, not when his main concern was
getting Allen into warm clothes and bringing up his core temperature.
Every time Lavi’s fingers brushed against Allen’s skin, it felt cold and
clammy. The redhead was truly worried he’d have to take him to the
hospital.

Once the boots were off, Lavi realized he had to get him
out of the soaked pants as well. He made a face, realizing how awkward
it would be if he just ripped open a stranger’s pants and yanked them
off. He felt like a creeper as it was.

“Hey, I need to take off
your pants to change into these. Ok?” Lavi lifted the pair of clean, dry
sweatpants he’d procured from his bedroom earlier. “Can you do it
yourself or do you need help?” There – as long as he asked first, he
wouldn’t feel as much like a pervert, even if his cheeks were a tad red.

“I can do it.” Maybe. Allen still felt exhausted, but he felt more awake now. He figured he could probably manage it… somehow. He reached out for the sweatpants, and waited to see if Lavi was going to leave him to change.

Lavi had to rip his dresser apart to find clothes that would even begin to fit the homeless kid sitting on his couch. He found and old pair of sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt that would have to do. He grabbed a couple towels on his way out of the room and turned the thermostat on high as he headed back towards the couch.

When he reached Allen again, the poor guy looked like he was about to pass out on the couch. Knowing that hypothermia was an all too real likelihood, he tried to keep him awake. So, Lavi decided to talk. “Hey, I’m going to get you out of these wet clothes, ok? I’m not trying to feel you up or anything.”

Lavi pulled on Allen’s shirt first, finding the fabric hard to yank off while it was so wet. But, when he finally managed it, he dropped it to the floor with the coat and pulled the dry towel around Allen’s shoulders. Next he worked on his boots, those taking even more time than the shirt. Meanwhile, he could hear the furnace turning on and hopefully working its magic. “I usually keep my apartment pretty cool, but in your case, I’ll make an exception.”

Allen knew there was something he should be worried about as Lavi pulled of his shirt, but he couldn’t think of what it was. He tried to brush the feeling off, but as a towel was put around his shoulders and Lavi started to remove his boots, it continued to nag at him. It wasn’t until he felt warm air blow across his arms that he realized what was wrong. His deformed arm was showing.

He stiffened a bit, opening his eyes to look at the redhead nervously, but he seemed to be occupied with pulling off his other boot. Did he not notice…? Allen didn’t know how he could possibly miss it, but the man in front of him gave no indication he had noticed it at all. Well, if he hadn’t noticed it yet, he was sure to in time…

Allen reached up and pulled at the towel over his shoulders, moving it to cover his left shoulder and arm instead. It was the best he could think to do at the moment, as exhaustion still made it difficult to want to move, or even think.

As they turned the corner, Lavi spotted his apartment building. The redbrick façade and large door for the main entrance was a welcome sight in any circumstance. Lavi hurried them both inside and up the stairs. It was slightly warmer once they passed the threshold, but a chill still hung in the air as they made it up two flights before reaching the correct landing.

It felt like Lavi was practically carrying Allen at this point, but the redhead was so focused on getting the poor boy to somewhere warm that he barely acknowledged the additional weight at his side. When they stopped in front of Lavi’s door, he unlocked it without issue and pulled Allen inside.

The walls were lined with bookshelves, books, magazines and newspapers littering every surface. The whole apartment was a mess, like usual, but Lavi managed to shuffle through it and bring Allen to the old couch in the living room.

Lavi still felt the panic in his chest from earlier, but at least now he knew what to do. He quickly unzipped Allen’s filthy, soaked coat and pulled it off as fast as possible, tossing it on the floor without care where it landed. When he saw that Allen’s other clothes were also dirty and drenched, he knew he had to strip him out of those as well.

“Wait here. I’m going to get a towel and some clean clothes,” Lavi said, hurrying off to his bedroom.

The rest of the trip was a blur, and the next thing Allen knew was that he was being put down onto a warm couch. He closed his eyes, ignoring the hands pulling off his coat. He could tell he was being spoken to, and he knew he should at least try to pay attention to what was happening because he was alone with a complete stranger… but it was much more tempting to try to fall asleep instead.

letspleasuretogether:

Lavi did what he could to warm Allen and before he knew it, their stop was up. Helping Allen to his feet, he shuffled them both down the narrow bus aisle and managed to get them off before someone yelled at them for taking too long.

As soon as they hit the streets again, the wind and rain greeted them like an old, unwelcome enemy. Lavi winced and pulled Allen closer so he could speak into his ear. “It’s not much further. Just hang on, ok?”

Allen was exhausted, but did his best to walk as the other guided him off the bus. He made a noise of complaint when they left the warmth of the bus, the cold wind and rain feeling even colder than before. He heard the other speak, and while he couldn’t quite understand where they were going, his muddled mind did manage to realize that reaching their destination would mean he could stop and sleep. He put more effort into walking, motivated by that thought.

letspleasuretogether:

“Aah. Easy there, Al. Might want to wait until we get off the bus for that,” Lavi said, stilling the other boy’s fingers. He managed to just catch the name that slipped through Allen’s blue lips, and hoped it was correct. He pulled Allen’s hands into his own and sandwiched them in hopes of warming the numb digits.

The bus trip wasn’t long. It would take maybe five or ten minutes to get to his apartment, and it wasn’t even far from the bus route – Half a block at most. Still, he worried that the longer they sat here, the closer the kid came to hypothermia. Lavi was a well-read individual, and even he could see the signs. He had to warm him up fast.

So, he did what he could until they reached Lavi’s apartment. He held Allen’s hands and let the other boy lean against him. Even as soaked as he was, he was twice as warm as Allen. Lavi shivered when he nuzzled his neck, but the intimacy of the act sent such a wave of heat across his face, it more than made up for the sudden cold nose pressed against his skin.

Lavi looked up at the street signs to gauge how much longer it would take to get to their destination. They were almost there. Just another couple blocks.

Allen made a small sound as Lavi pulled his hands away, but he didnt remove his hands from Lavis as the other tried to warm him up. Even with his freezing clothes, he felt very comfortable at the moment, and started drifting off to sleep.

letspleasuretogether:

After dragging the half frozen boy with him on the last bus of the night, Lavi heaved a sigh of relief after getting them seated. The bus was warm and dry, and the redhead hoped this would help wake the other boy up some so he could at least get a name out of him. He peered over at him, watching to make sure he was still breathing.

The other boy’s eyes were closed as he pressed his face against the window. Lavi pulled off his wet, knit gloves and rubbed his cold hands together. He touched his hand to his forehead and was shocked to find it colder than even the tips of his fingers. That probably wasn’t good. He pulled on the boy’s arm until he turned the other way, now leaning against Lavi’s shoulder.

Lavi put his arm around him, more worried than embarrassed to be half hugging a complete stranger. “Hey, best stay away from the cold window,” Lavi said, trying to sound nonchalant even as nervousness gripped his chest. What if the kid got frostbite? Or even hypothermia? He looked in pretty bad shape – like if he fell asleep, he wouldn’t wake up.

Now that was a horrible thought. A shiver of fear ran down Lavi’s back. He had to try and keep him awake. “What’s your name?”

Allen felt a warm hand touch his face, and felt himself pulled over to lean against the other. The person was saying something… He only caught the last bit, and mumbled something that sounded vaguely like ‘Allen’.

Allen turned his face to nuzzle into his neck. Warm… He couldn’t think about anything except the warmth, next to him and in the air.  His clothes were still soaked and freezing, so Allen’s frozen fingers fumbled in an attempt to take his coat off.
