“Ah, well I planned to order as soon as they were done cooking your meal, Allen. If I had ordered right behind you, I would still have had to wait for my food, so I just thought I’d space out our orders a bit.” Calera stated, watching as the cooks worked to fulfill Allen’s large order.

“…either way you would have to wait about the same amount of time.” Allen pointed out, but shrugged and sipped at his soda while he waited for his order. He hoped the caffeine would help keep him more alert tonight.

He wanted to talk strategy, but he would need to tell her about what could be waiting for them beforehand so they could plan for any possibilities.

Wasn’t that a list. Calera listened in wonder as Allen went off on a tale, listing off foods order by order. ‘I think I’ll just, yeah. I’m going to wait to order mine.’ She’d get her own food after Allen’s was done. Maybe even snack off of his plates until they were ready for someone new.

Once Allen had made his order, with the cashier promising to bring it to their table, he headed back to the table.

“Aren’t you going to get something?” he asked Calera, seeing she hadn’t ordered. “You really should eat…”

Allen was a few minutes late, but managed to locate the restaurant that they had agreed to meet at. He spotted Calera and joined her at the booth, putting his bag next to him as he dropped into the seat.

“Sorry Im late, had to pick up spare batteries.” he said. “I found some more information… but I think its best to eat before I share it.”

“Agreed, besides, I want to get some energy in me before we have to see that hellhole anyway.” Calera replied. “Anything you want me to get? You head up to the counter in this place, so I can grab your food if you’d like me to.”

The batteries were a welcome addition to the arsenal Calera had bought for herself. No one needed that flashlight going out like last time.

“I’ll do my order, itll be easier.” Allen said. He made his way to the counter, looking at the options for a few moments before ordering. He ignored the look he got from the cashier when he gave her his huge order, he had more to worry about tonight, and he needed the energy.

The cruel alarm clock buzzed Calera wake at 11 A.M. Stumbling out of bed, she sadly noted the lack of sleep, and added caffeine on the list of supplies to acquire that day. As much as she wanted to try and rest a bit more, there were quite a few items to buy, some requiring a bit of time. Pulling on a simple pair of jeans that allowed actual movement beyond a staggered step, and a soft sweater for the cold environment she was going to plunge herself into later that day, Calera felt ready enough to grab the stuff she needed.

So she bid her empty apartment goodbye, but not before she rummaged through a small stand her twin sister kept by their bed. Calera herself wan’t very wealthy, she in fact was far from it. Relying on her twin sister for help with rent and food, it was a parasitic relationship that Calera hoped to be able to rise out of eventually. But that day was not today.

Calera knew that her twin kept an emergency credit card in there, and although she felt bad for taking her twin’s money, it wasn’t as if Alayna couldn’t afford the purchases. Finding the card hidden in a crisp white envelope, Calera swiped it out and shoved it into her pocket, grabbed a large backpack, and strode off into the street.

Her first stop was at a local gun shop. She knew her background check was clean, so it wouldn’t take too long, but the manager might find something odd about a young woman like herself purchasing multiple tasers and a few shotguns with hollow-point variety bullets. ‘I hope that background checks don’t include why you need the weapon..’ The man behind the counter was rightfully concerned; however the situation barely took her until 12:45 to get all the weapons she had aimed for.

Calera still had quite a long time to search and find a few more items, so she first dragged herself over to a small coffee shop (after dropping off her weapons back at her home, there was no way she was just going to carry all of those in broad daylight), and bought herself a well-caffeinated latte in the hopes that it would help wake her up a bit more. As she sipped the caffeine, she recognized a familiar face sitting calmly only two tables away. It was the manager that was always dragging them outside, that stupid smile plastered on his face, and here he was, acting the the world was full of daisies or something!

Causing a scene would just bring more trouble. Slowly, Calera stood up, bought another two drinks for the road, and left the small shop. Not before she was given a cheerful wave goodbye from the slimebag, but Calera did her best to ignore the gesture.

The rest of the items that day included body armor and a simple small self-generator, that she was certain to charge before she left. that would be what she hid in her bag, along with the taser and guns. The large amount of power that would be sapped from the generator would probably render it obsolete after about fifteen minutes, but those minutes could be used to help themselves reach the breaker box, or simply wait out the clock.

Night was creeping in, so Calera prepared for it by donning half of the armor under her clothes, and pulling the weighty backpack onto her back. The diner was close to the resturaunt, so Allen should have been able to find it alright. ‘Why am I worried? It’s not like I’ve ever seen the guy get lost before.’

So she walked in, placed the backpack calmly underneath her feet, and ordered a small snack for the both of them, in order to have something welcoming there when Allen walked into the place.
