A fitness enthusiast who complained his gym’s music was not motivating enough has won damages after an instructor humiliated him over a microphone for complaining.
Ketan Aggarwal, 30, who was branded “stupid” by staff in a Virgin Active club spin class has successfully sued them for disability discrimination while representing himself in court.
The gym goer, who is autistic, proved he was anything but stupid by swatting over law books to beat the multi-million pound company’s legal team.
Mr Aggarwal was in a spin class when he agreed with a fellow cyclist the music was too slow – prompting the instructor to apparently yell “don’t tell me how to do my job”.
*young republican voice* i don’t see why my rich, rich, rich rich rich, rich rich rich rich, so fucking rich, father should have to pay for poorer boys school lunches. he could spend that money on a racism machine
Yeah, see, THIS is a trigger. Something that prompts a horrible flashback that makes someone go into a literal panic attack. It is NOT something that makes you slightly uncomfortable, so can we all just stop tossing that word around like it’s nothing.
thank you Wreck It Ralph
Reblogging for valuable commentary
Also, can we talk about how Felix dealt with it? He NEVER used that word again (only once in front of Ralph, never by her), there was never any talk about how she could get over it, and in their wedding they all made plans to help her with her paranoia by recognising her fears and showing she was safe by pointing guns at the window and having extra security.
A++++++ on dealing with mental issues magnificently, Wreck-It Ralph!
Will never not reblog this when I see it
also this was the greatest 5 second character development in cinematic history
While this isn’t the only trigger response, it’s a common one. There’s a post going around detailing other common ones, like paranoia/anxiety spikes that don’t fade for weeks, increased chance of dissociation, things like that. But yeah. Triggers, no matter the form, are really shitty. And if you make fun of people for having them you are a gross individual.
“slightly discomfortable” It’s about things that make you uncomfortable for extended periods and thus can mess you up more long-term.
Like this is a fucking STELLAR demonstration of triggers but we can’t keep throwing people with non-standard or less than instant-crippling responses under the bus.
I wasn’t gonna reblog for the earlier shitting on other trigger responses but thank you so much for the last comment??
The National Institute of Health (NIH) has had its spending increase by $2 billion to a total of $34 billion. Trump requested this to be cut.
NASA has been granted $19.7 billion in funding, an increase even on what Obama requested. Of this, $5.8 billion is set aside for science research, including $1.9 billion for the Earth Sciences – something Trump officials said they wanted completely defunded.
$37 million has been given to NASA’s STEM programs and outreach, with $100 million total going towards educational programs, something Trump also wished, and still wishes, to cut by 2018.
The National Science Foundation (NSF), the largest federal fund for science and academia, has been given $7.5 billion, a slight increase from 2016’s budget.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has been given $1.09 billion, a slight increase from 2016. Trump wanted to cut this by 10 percent.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which faced a 31 percent cut by this year or the next, has only had its funding cut by 1 percent.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has been given $3.5 billion
Renewable energies and clean energy research funding have been boosted by $17 million.
YES
Good news! Oh good!
This went so well that I’m kind of suspicious? Like make sure it’s a bag of money they’re handing you and not a bomb.
