to anyone who was at a women’s march yesterday- text COUNT ME to 89800 so they can get an accurate number of people who were in attendance

As soon as I seen this I thought “this sound like the feds” ..did some research and…

The Women’s march confirmed on their Twitter that they are not behind these efforts and that it is ran by a third party group. All the while celebrities are tweeting this information, for people to text this number. Do not text this number.

Please you all, if you’re going to be taking part in movements such as these… be mindful that there are people out here trying to get you caught up.

The Feds are literally watching

No, this is not from the Women’s March, it’s from 2 professors who have been gathering crowd size data and keeping a Google spreadsheet of the information. Jeremy Pressman (U of Connecticut) and Erica Chenoweth (U of Denver) are the people behind this text if you participated project. They have been working on this since the Marches began yesterday and update the spreadsheet as more accurate (verified) data comes in. Right now (Sunday 7pm Pacific) the low estimate for the U.S. is 3,338,781 and the high estimate is 4,631,820. The spreadsheet lists all locations tracked in alphabetical order by city name. The source for each datum is listed. (x)

All the number collects is which city you marched in, anyway. Considering that everyone has been posting about it on social media, bringing their own phones, and taking photos, it’s hardly a secret and The Fedz don’t need you to text a number. This was meant to be a show of numbers anyway.
