young polite man who’s been prophesied as the destroyer of time aka to them the person who will take out the Earl. Also Allen is very nice, kind and cares about everyone so a lot of people are protecting him because to them, he is their last hope 2/2
That’s a very good point actually. Allen’s been a symbol of progress and good fortune for the Order ever since he showed up. First, he can see Akuma before they reveal themselves, which is hugely beneficial since the Exorcists and Finders have all basically had to guess where the enemy was. It really changes the game and relieves a lot of anxiety, at least for the people who he goes on missions with. And he has a parasitic Innocence, which is rarer and more powerful than equipment-type.
Then his Innocence not only saves him, but is able to regain its form despite being crushed by a Noah, which is unprecedented. Coupled with Lenalee’s incident, it raised a lot of exciting questions about the Innocence.
Then Allen captured the Ark, which completely revolutionized the Order’s operations, facilitating faster responses and return times for missions and allowing them to work much faster. They also got the Akuma egg, which slowed the Earl down (and though they royally screwed up when they made the Thirds, the egg could possibly have provided insights into dark matter and the structure of Akuma).
Having known a lot of failure and suffering, it must have been really something for the folks at the Order, to have hope again. This string of victories must have really had people’s spirits high, from Exorcists to scientists to Finders, and Allen was the center of it. He’s special. He’s powerful. He’s kind. He could be the one who finally turns the tide of the war.
And then everything starts going wrong. The assault on HQ, the appearance of the Level 4, Allen revealed as a Noah, the attack on North America branch, Allen possibly murdering an Inspector and fleeing with the Noah… it makes sense that some people would be so resistant to the idea that Allen could be dangerous, because not only was he a friend to all, but he was pretty much the best thing to happen to the Order since it was founded.
He’s supposed to be their champion, and if people stop believing that, then there’s not much left to hope for. So some of them keep on believing.
