Reason # 184721 – Why I love D.Gray-Man

Ya’ll know what that is? That is an injured protagonist, with blood and stuff. Why I love D.gray-man? The characters get injured, like life and death situation, also, not all of them come home.  The amount of dead characters in this series extends beyond both my hands guys. That’s an awful lot of dead characters.

Some of the exorcists at the Black Order are under the age of 21, Lavi,    Lenalee, Kanda(*special exception to discuss later), Allen, Timothy, Chaoji, Daisya. These guys get there asses handed to them at times and it hurts, this manga isn’t like others where the characters can just get back up and keep fighting non-stop despite everything, no they get injured and that injury takes a toll. They lose the fight or have to retreat. Or worse, they end up dead. That mess up in their fight brings a lot of pain and failure and probably death if they aren’t careful. Can you imagine how much stress that puts on them? According to Hoshino, Allen Walker isn’t even 17 yet and yet he’s had enough injuries to make veterans probably cry. That boy would be dead now if it wasn’t for the innocence in his arm. Remember when he had a HOLE IN HIS HEART? and he was literally about to die if it wasn’t for his innocence repairing it, and even then he was dragged to the Asia Branch and unconscious while being cared for, he was effectively out of the battle for an extended period of time while he got his act together and reformed his innocence.  Hoshino’s great at making her character’s life like and realistic, having them be actual human beings.

Now here is where it gets a bit ranty, you don’t have to read this next part but I couldn’t just stop:

Though i’m sure at this point Allen would probably have brain damage or organ failure or something if he was a normal teenager but he isn’t, he’s a parasitic type exorcist. This boy is strong, and I think fans of the series underestimate his strength, his willpower, his determination, his stamina and his courage. I’ve heard some people complain that he cries a lot, as does Lenalee. I don’t think so. Why? Cause they’re both not even 18 and they’re treated like tools that can be easily used as a weapon in war. Central doesn’t view them as people, some of the finders don’t.  I’d honestly be depressed and in tears if that happened to me, but those two aren’t. They’re up, about, fighting to save those they love.

There is just so much stress placed on them as exorcists, they’re pushed to the point of near death so often and they don’t get a word in how it all goes down. Cause they either fight and win, or they don’t and they die as a result or the refuse, and become subject to force by Central.

Anyway, back on topic, I just love how this series is so human and honest to goodness about human nature, that we break under stress like Lenalee and Allen, that some people are just down right cruel (Lvellie), that others become desperate for escape (Suman Dark), Some begin to have a burning hatred for the Order and what’s going on (Kanda). That’s why I love this series, cause they’re not invincible, they’re just teenagers that got shoved into this life because of a situation they couldn’t control (except Lavi, Lavi’s an exception to talk about another day.). Fantastic job Hoshino. Beautiful work.

I agree with ALL of this.

Awesome point of view ~
