As they turned the corner, Lavi spotted his apartment building. The redbrick façade and large door for the main entrance was a welcome sight in any circumstance. Lavi hurried them both inside and up the stairs. It was slightly warmer once they passed the threshold, but a chill still hung in the air as they made it up two flights before reaching the correct landing.

It felt like Lavi was practically carrying Allen at this point, but the redhead was so focused on getting the poor boy to somewhere warm that he barely acknowledged the additional weight at his side. When they stopped in front of Lavi’s door, he unlocked it without issue and pulled Allen inside.

The walls were lined with bookshelves, books, magazines and newspapers littering every surface. The whole apartment was a mess, like usual, but Lavi managed to shuffle through it and bring Allen to the old couch in the living room.

Lavi still felt the panic in his chest from earlier, but at least now he knew what to do. He quickly unzipped Allen’s filthy, soaked coat and pulled it off as fast as possible, tossing it on the floor without care where it landed. When he saw that Allen’s other clothes were also dirty and drenched, he knew he had to strip him out of those as well.

“Wait here. I’m going to get a towel and some clean clothes,” Lavi said, hurrying off to his bedroom.

The rest of the trip was a blur, and the next thing Allen knew was that he was being put down onto a warm couch. He closed his eyes, ignoring the hands pulling off his coat. He could tell he was being spoken to, and he knew he should at least try to pay attention to what was happening because he was alone with a complete stranger… but it was much more tempting to try to fall asleep instead.
