Lavi did what he could to warm Allen and before he knew it, their stop was up. Helping Allen to his feet, he shuffled them both down the narrow bus aisle and managed to get them off before someone yelled at them for taking too long.
As soon as they hit the streets again, the wind and rain greeted them like an old, unwelcome enemy. Lavi winced and pulled Allen closer so he could speak into his ear. “It’s not much further. Just hang on, ok?”
Allen was exhausted, but did his best to walk as the other guided him off the bus. He made a noise of complaint when they left the warmth of the bus, the cold wind and rain feeling even colder than before. He heard the other speak, and while he couldn’t quite understand where they were going, his muddled mind did manage to realize that reaching their destination would mean he could stop and sleep. He put more effort into walking, motivated by that thought.
