the westblock beat, a detective au starring:
- nezumi, a veteran investigator that consistently argues that rats are better than people and is the asshole who makes stupid puns over dead bodies. is investigating government corruption with his new partner (well, he tries to, but shion is really distracting, cut him a break)
- shion, a rookie detective with a heart of gold (and incredible eye for detail) newly assigned to be nezumi’s partner, is a beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure. all of his reports somehow feature at least two (the record was six) separate lines describing nezumi’s beautiful gray eyes (’look, shion, the way nezumi’s eyes sparkled when he was looking at the evidence doesn’t really matter so much as the, you know, evidence.’ ‘i….i don’t understand.’)
- inukashi, the medical examiner, who always keeps at least one dog in their lab even though everyone is almost 100% sure that violates a code somewhere (no one can verify this though, as the department’s code book was found in tatters, with what most detectives believed to be obvious signs of canine teeth damage to it)
- rikiga, no one is actually sure what he does, but he’s always in the office and is usually not causing trouble (though now the department knows to check the evidence locker for missing material after drug busts, even though he insists it was just one time, guys, come on (it was in fact, not just one time)
- safu, the captain, who absolutely does not have time for any of this shit
